Leofoto Ranger LS-284CEX Carbon tripod with levelling base
If you don't want to extend the three tripod legs to a different length to compensate for uneven terrain, the Ranger LS-284CEX is an alternative to the LS-284C. Instead of under a rigid head plate, the tripod legs join together under a leveling base. With an inclination of up to 15° in any direction, it allows the generally desired horizontal camera alignment in many situations. An extremely useful adjustment aid, especially for video and panorama shots! For this convenience of the Ranger LS-284CEX, quite a few photographers are even happy to accept that the load capacity is limited to "only" 8 kg due to the movable leveling unit (cf. LS-284C with identical tripod legs: 12 kg). The working heights: maximum 1,480 mm, minimum 850 mm. The other characteristics: only 1,320 g weight (incl. built-in leveling base), with a pack size of 505 mm.

Leofoto Ranger series - the ultra-light but extremely stable carbon tripods
Nature is the nature of the compact and lightweight Leofoto Ranger tripods. Every gram and every millimetre counts on days of photo stalking in order to minimize the volume and weight of your luggage. However, all pieces of equipment must not only save space and weight, but also meet very high requirements. Stability under all circumstances, that is the requirement. The material, carbon, ensures the required lightness. Its stability and freedom from vibration "grows" with the number of layers. Apart from the Traveler tripod series and the monopods, Leofoto tripods are made of ten-layer carbon. The deliberately modular design of all tripods in the Leofoto Ranger series - the center column is not built in, but only attached when required - makes it possible to limit luggage to the bare essentials.
With their small diameters, the head plates in the Ranger series are also part of the space-saving concept. And because they are CNC-milled from strong aircraft aluminum, they fit perfectly. The head plate screw has a 3/8" thread. The tripod legs - each consisting of three to five leg elements, depending on the model - glide smoothly and without twisting. They are held in place by rubberized twist locks that are easy to grip. Unwanted vibrations are absorbed by the rubber feet. If necessary, they can be replaced with the stainless steel spikes supplied or optional snow and sand feet.

Leofoto Ranger LS-284CEX - without center column, but with levelling comfort
The levelling base itself can be fixed and, of course, released using a strong locking knob. It is fitted with a 3/8" screw for a tripod head. There is no separately enclosed center column for the LS-284CEX, as is the case with many other tripod models in the Ranger series. In the interests of good stability, it is also not recommended to use a center column (which can be purchased as an option). This is because the pivoting of the leveling base already reduces the lateral stability compared to tripods with a fixed head plate. However, a multi-tool and a set of stainless steel spikes are included in the scope of delivery, stowed away together with the carbon tripod in a carrying bag. Each tripod leg has four strong, velvety sliding segments with diameters of 28, 25, 22 and 19 mm.
