  • Professional shotgun microphone
  • Supercardioid characteristic with high directivity towards the front
  • transparent, coloration-free sound quality
  • Frequency response: 20 Hz - 20 kHz (±3 dB)
  • automatic TRS/TRRS detection

RØDE's brand new VideoMic NTG is a professional shotgun microphone that can be conveniently attached to a camera's hot shoe. A novelty: the red Rycote® swing mount can be moved horizontally if necessary to optimally adjust the microphone position to the respective camera used. A 3/8" thread is also integrated into the base of the swing mount, so the VideoMic NTG can also be easily mounted on a tripod or boom.

The 3.5 mm jack socket of the VideoMic NTG can be connected either to the three-pin microphone input of a camera (TRS) or to the four-pin jack socket of a smartphone (TRSS) via the enclosed special cable SC10: the VideoMic NTG has an automatic TRS/TRRS detection and changes the assignment of its socket accordingly, an adapter is not necessary. Speaking of special cables: the SC10 cannot flap thanks to its rigidity, so corresponding noise is excluded.

The VideoMic NTG also has a straightforward USB audio interface integrated. With the included USB cables (USB C to USB A), you can connect it to your computer - it is immediately recognized without driver installation - and thus use it for dubbing videos. The 3.5 mm jack socket of the VideoMic NTG serves as a headphone output - it couldn't be more convenient! Good to know: the VideoMic NTG doesn't need batteries, the integrated rechargeable battery provides the necessary power for more than 30 hours, charging is done via the integrated USB-C jack.

RØDE has equipped the ultra-compact (17 cm) VideoMic NTG with a wealth of switching options and functions that leave hardly anything to be desired (high-pass filter, presence boost, auto on/off function, safety mode, peak LED, pre-attenuation). It would go beyond the scope to go into detail on all of them here, just this much: the VideoMic NTG delivers a broadcast-quality top sound with a fantastically transparent and completely coloration-free sound.

The VideoMic NTG is really loud with 50 mV sensitivity, so that the preamplifiers of downstream devices can be driven low to reduce noise - thanks to the large volume control (another novelty!) on the back of the microphone, this is extremely convenient and precise. Since you can also activate a 20 dB pre-attenuation in extreme cases, the VideoMic NTG is suitable for both very quiet and very loud sound sources: annoying noise or ugly distortions are a thing of the past.
